Hello Dear Readers,
Thank you for visiting! My name is Whit Ryan and I have an MA in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver. I am a part time field hockey umpire, somewhat retired professional chef, and a passionate advocate for quality mental health resources for all.
As a mental skills and performance excellence consultant, I work with individuals and teams across sport, high-risk occupations, musicians, and business team leaders. I have a specialty working with referees, umpires, and sport officials in any sport domain.
This blog is musings about sport and performance excellence, the psychology of performance, and how we can integrate what we know into what we do. I’ll be exploring mental skills, theories, practical applications, and sharing other writers’ work.
As my friends and family can attest, I have worn many hats in my life so far. I’ve been an athlete, a teacher, a chef, and a leader just to name a few. I’ve made more mistakes than I care to admit and I have had my fair share of successes. In 2016, I took a new turn on my life’s journey and I decided to go back to school. I have learned a great deal about sport and performance psychology and, perhaps more importantly, about myself.
On the Horizon represents a part of that journey. On these pages, I hope you will find useful information, funny stories, inspiration and insight.
I appreciate you walking with me for a few words.
Best,
Whit Ryan
